Welcome to the Bogard Road Extension East Website

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB) is designing the Bogard Road Extension East project to extend Bogard Road from near Trunk Road to the Glenn Highway. Expected features include a two-lane paved highway with minimum 12-foot travel lanes, 8-foot paved shoulders, right-of-way acquisition for a 4-lane facility, turning lanes, pedestrian facilities, a separated pathway, lighting, intersection improvements, and drainage structures. The purpose of this project is to provide an additional east-west corridor to facilitate east-west travel across the core area of the MSB.

At the MSB Assembly meeting on March 18, 2008, the Assembly members voted unanimously in favor of Alternative 2. An amendment was made to this resolution to narrow the right-of-way to 150-feet along the current section of Arctic Avenue in front of Palmer High School.

Update September 2011

Right-of-way for the project is currently being acquired.  Once the property acquisition is complete, the design will be completed.  The MSB is also working to secure construction funding.
