Welcome to the Bogard Road Extension East Website
Effective the week of May 11, 2015:
Phase I of the Bogard Road Extension kicks off this week! The largest impact to the public will be along Arctic Avenue, between the Glenn Highway and Palmer High School. There are no road closures scheduled, but the motorists should expect occasional delays in the area. The contractor is NOT permitted to restrict traffic between 5am - 9am or 1pm to 8pm, Monday through Friday; around holidays; or during major school events.
About the project:
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB) is constructing the Bogard Road Extension East project to extend Bogard Road from 49th State Street to the Glenn Highway in Palmer. Expected features include a two-lane paved highway with minimum 12-foot travel lanes, 8-foot paved shoulders, right-of-way acquisition for a 4-lane facility, turning lanes, pedestrian facilities, a separated pathway, lighting, intersection improvements, and drainage structures. The purpose of this project is to provide an additional east-west corridor to facilitate travel across the core area of the MSB.
Phase II of the project will continue the improvements west to just past Colony Middle School. This work will be advertised for construction in late-Spring 2015.
A preferred option has been selected for the intersections of Bogard Road and 49th State St. and Silver Creek Drive. Click on the image below to view the preferred option design.
