The Spruce Street Extension/Upgrade from East Dowling Road to East 68th Avenue has been initiated!

The objective of this project is to extend Spruce Street from East Dowling Road (EDR) to East 64th Avenue, and to upgrade the existing stretch of Spruce Street between East 64th and East 68th Avenue.

The objective of this project is to reduce through traffic on neighborhood streets, increase connectivity within the road network, improving response times for emergency vehicles, and improve pedestrian facilities.

Possible modifications to the existing street include expansion and upgrade of the existing storm drainage system, construction/reconstruction of the roadway, new pavement, upgrades to pedestrian facilities, street lighting, and limited landscape enhancements within the corridor.

Why is Spruce Street being surveyed?

DOWL HKM is the Municipality of Anchorage’s consultant performing survey, geotechnical, public involvement and design work for the Spruce Street Extension/Upgrade from E. Dowling Road to E. 68th Street.

Surveying the corridor is one of the first steps. Public involvement activities are scheduled to occur in fall 2009 - spring 2010. DOWL HKM will be performing field survey work in your neighborhood for the next few months. All of our staff have employee identification cards and wear orange vests.

Please contact Alison Lohrke at 562-2000 if you have comments or questions about the surveyors or if you wish to receive additional project information.
