RUBY DAM REHABILITATION
Dillon, Montana
PROJECT NOTES
Ruby Dam is located on the Ruby River, and was originally built in 1938. It is classified as high hazard under the Montana Dam Safety Act guidelines. DOWL HKM performed a feasibility study for Ruby Dam that evaluates the existing condition of the dam and developed rehabilitation alternatives to bring the dam into compliance with the State of Montana Dam Safety Act. The selected alternative includes: replacement of the concrete spillway, rehabilitation of the outlet with a steel penstock and new control gate, and raising the normal storage pool nearly 10,000 acre-feet.
